Cramlington Precision Forge Ltd. (CPFL) can offer a product range up to 10kg. Forged or in the fully finished condition. These products include differential gears and pinions, blank forgings through to a new product range of clutches currently under development for a European truck manufacturer. 2006 brings an exciting time for CPFL in early 2006 a 4000T press will be installed available to produce a component range of up to 30kg. Two mechanical crank presses, a 1300T and 1600T, supplemented by 350 and 450kW inert-atmosphere induction generators give a capacity of over 2 million forgings per year. Our ability to change dies quickly and automatic billet loading gives CPFL the flexibility to process small batch quantities in line with Lean Manufacturing philosophy. Precision Forging is a niche business, and CPFL is capable of producing heavy duty precision forged differential gears. Gear teeth and other component features can be finish forged making them stronger, cheaper and lighter than cut components. Extra design features can be added to forged components to further increase their strength. All machining is referenced to the gear tooth profile with the gear nest (a negative of the gear) holding blanks in position. Drilling, deburring, flash removal, turning broaching and other machining operations are located with respect to tooth form and alignment.
